Looking back over life's highway;
I can now so clearly see,
Not the joys and woes, that comes and goes,
But the times that were best for me.
Sixteen candles on a birthday cake,
Mama and Daddy, proud as can be,
Trying for a happy birthday to make,
So the day would be perfect for me.
Then I met the man of my dearest dream,
We almost danced the night away.
Soon he ask me to be his bride,
And of course, yes is what I had to say.
Walking softly up this highway,
Raising our children and being in love,
Soon bouncing a grand child on each knee,
Surely all this came from Heaven above.
So now we trod along life's path, you see,
Growing weary and tired from age and all,
Sometimes wounded, from the way life can be,
But the whole time was the best time for me.
