ODE TO A BROTHER

When I awoke this morning, and remembered that you were gone,
Tears that could not be stopped did start to fall, I felt so alone,
Then I remembered, as children, and at play, you were my hero,
But it seems it's always the way, one must stay and one must go.

We had such wonderful times in our childhood, You took such good care of me,
Maybe when Mom and Dad were working, a good brother you'd always be.
Someday when God calls me, we'll then be together again,
But for now I'll just remember and love you, help our Mom all that I can.

I do ask our dear Lord to safely keep you, for I know that you are there,
With our loving Savior, in the Mansion that He did for you, prepare.
He said He would go and prepare a place for us, If it were not so He would have told you,
That's why I can stand my loss for now, I know He does all He said He would do.

Send back your love for us each day, through the angels that bore you there,
Tell us about the streets of gold you walk on, no more pain, or not a care,
Maybe about the tree of life our Lord prepared, the fruit we will eat thereof,
e took off His crown and laid it aside, and His robe He put down, He gave His all, out of love.

We'll see each other again, and with Him, we'll walk on streets of gold,
We'll praise Him evermore, and rejoice when we're gathered with the fold,
We'll pick the fruit from the tree of life, once a month, I seem to have read in His word.
It is the greatest story ever to be told, a sacrifice for all who love Him, from Him we've heard.
