ODE TO MISS COY

There was this favorite Teacher, who brought her student's so much joy,
She was ever there for us, Her dear name was "Miss Coy"
I'm not certain what class she taught, It's been so long ago,
I only know , when we had to move away, I didn't want to go.

She was almost like my Mother, she did for me her very best,
She'd give us many pointers to try to help, the day before a big old test.
I thought she was so beautiful, Smelled of lavender cologne,
Always just had to hug her, before the big old bus took me home.

This teacher lives far from me today, but when I go back home, I like to go and see,
This friend, my teacher, who was so wonderfully sweet and good to me,
She shares my love for flowers, as my dear mother did before,
My Lord took her home to Heaven, He needed her there with Him much more.

So all you "kids" who live close to her, drop by often and chat with our Miss Coy,
Tell her before it's too late, how she bore so much love and so much joy
For this class that we were in, and I'm sure 'twas many, many more,
Who loved this teacher just as I, in the years after, and in years before.

I know she did her job well, She taught math, and taught us how to spell,
She taught geography, English, and she taught us manners very well,
How to use the magic words, like thank you and maybe please may I,
This wonderful teacher will always be with me, in my heart now, and in the sweet by and by.
