It was on a May day, when the letter came that day.
It was from her true love, who was far, far
away,
Said in a year, in a year when the grapes
are ripe, Ill stay no more away,
And if you still love me when I come back,
it will be our wedding day.
She answered him, maybe I love you and maybe
I don’t,
And she also wrote maybe Ill marry you and
maybe I won't,
When the reply he received, he rushed back
right away,
Hoping against hope, it would surely be their
wedding day.
So he wooed her and courted her, though she
held him at bay,
Soon though her guard let down, and they set
a day,
So happy was he, that he picked her up and
kissed her,
They were married April 12, 1925 on a Sunday
that was Easter.
A blessed union for fifty six years, love,
tenderness and tears,
From a letter, this love lasted in their hearts
through the years,
She lost him in death, for Heaven to receive
him above,
Fifteen years later she joined him, in strolling
over Heaven, still in love.
