Elopement

T`was the ending of the twilight,
Before the dew started to fall,
I thought you weren't coming,
And then I heard you softly call:

Come away with me my sweet,
Come, and marry me tonight,
I have everything all ready,
The carriage is out of sight.

I thought I must be dreaming,
Or was it the mist in the air?
My heart fluttering inside me
Oh did I really, really care,

Enough for Thee to take a chance,
A long life with me to share?
Yes I could never think of another,
As being "we" as in a pair.
