ANGELS THAT WATCH OVER US
There’s an Angel assigned to all mankind, I most surly, so believe,
Here to keep me from harm, and goodness in my heart’s to receive.
It would be so neat to catch a glimpse, or feel the lash from his eye,
As he was kissing me goodnight, Helping me not to cry.
At the bitterness in this old world, or a pain in my heart.
Please God let this little Angel, from me never ever part.
He watches o’er me as I travel, or when I do something bad,
Touches my heart with Angel wings, makes me very glad.
Once I think I saw the curtain move, across the room from me,
And then I felt a feathery tickle, as a wisp of Angel hair I could almost see.
I felt so warm and snug, when a soft feathery cloud around me, it felt he did wrap,
Just as my eyelids were closing, getting all snuggled in to take a nap.
God, keep this little Angel with me. Help him to guide the way,
For getting ready for Thy kingdom, in that great and fateful day,
When life here is done and He calls me on home, to be there with Thee,
Help me, Lord. Don’t let me stumble, but go with the Angel You sent for me.
Lord, I know You said we’d judge the Angels, when we’re there with Thee,
But Lord my Angel has been so very sweet and good, let his goodness be,
For without his guidance that You sent Him here to do,
I might not have been so fortunate as to be there, withYou.
