A LITTLE GIRL
Once there was a little girl, she won my heart away.
It wasn’t as tho I didn’t know, she was already on the way.
And as Mothers do, they dream on too, of what will be,
For this, her lovely child, all through eternity.
Will there be a closeness always between us yet?
As when a babe, even the months before we met?
Yes, when her little eyes looked up and into mine,
I knew then the love, and bond, would be for all time.
She’s a grownup Lady now, with children of her own,
Can it really be, my little girl is already grown?
I still have a little dress she wore, It’s put up to keep you see:
For one day we’ll bring it down, and relive the way she used to be.
But if I could, I wouldn’t change her, for all the world,
She’s charming, and bright, and takes life for a whirl
Where, oh where, would I ever find another,
Who would make such a wonderful, Daughter, wife and mother?
